In-Person Book Signings
For some reason I've been thinking about many of the in-person book signing I've done.
Old friend Robin Gorley set up several. I remember doing one in a Ventura hotel that was truly nice. Another she arranged was at a county fair in Santa Maria. I don't remember how many days that was, but the room we stayed in at a hotel had problems with the shower. It finally got fixed. We ate our breakfast and supper at a great little Mexican restaurant across the street.
I did a wonderful one at a now defunct Borders book store in Visalia, and ended up teaching a writing class there.
Had a great book signing for my first book, TWO WAYS WEST, at a Barnes and Nobel in Fresno years ago. My granddaughter set one up for me at a Walmart in Sonora, a mountain community, also for TWO WAYS WEST that was wonderful. That's where I learned that you never could tell who might buy your books. A group of bikers came in and I gave them my pitch and several bought copies of my book.
Had several fun signings in various bookstores and other places in Oakhurst.
Visited good friend Lorna Collins and had a signing at an event outside her church.
Had several signings in Nipomo, San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. Have many good friends in that area.
I've done signings in Las Vegas in bookstores and libraries.
One of my best signings was in a museum in Tehachapi, also did signings there in bookstores over the years..
Have done several in Barnes and Nobles around the country.
I've done a couple of signings in Stafford's (a candy store) in Porterville, for the Porterville Women's Club, and many signings at the Porterville Library before it burned down. I've head signings at the Visalia Library inside and out, the Exeter Library and the Exeter Womens' Club. Also did a couple of signings at Irene Morse's home--the Neighborhood Book Store.
Of course, I've done lots of signings in my hometown of Springville, at the little library, in front of the coffee shop, for the Springville Women's Club, and of course, the annual Apple Festival, as well as the Springville Museum.
I'm sure there were many more places that I don't remember. But I loved doing them all.
